Mandate Its mandate is that of the Assemblée parlemetaire de la Francophonie's network for combating HIV/AIDS. It consists of: - Ensuring follow-up of the resolution adopted on 7 July 2000 in Yaoundé on strengthening the fight against HIV/AIDS, particularly in Africa; - Actively participating in the international partnership to combat AIDS in Africa; - Sensitizing the public and promoting activities to combat HIV/AIDS; and - Providing parliament with an indispensable information tool and means of bringing pressure to bear.
Membership Appointment of parliamentarians to the Network is carried out taking into consideration all parliamentary groups. It is composed of 13 members.
Working methods 1) The Coordinator establishes the agenda according to the Plan of Action of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF). 2) Convocation of Network members. 3) During meetings: a) Presentation of mission reports of the Coordinator or its members; b) Proposed activities and arbitration ; c) Elaboration of programmes of action in keeping with The APF Network's Plan of Action. 4) Submission of meeting reports to the National Assembly bureau for approval. 5) Implementation of activities approved by the bureau of the National Assembly. 6) Drawing up internally an activity report and submitting it to the bureau of the National Assembly for approval. 7) This report is also presented externally at two levels: a) To annual meetings of APF HIV/AIDS Coordinators; b) To the annual session of the National Council for combating HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) chaired by the Head of State.

Subjects dealt with Adaptation of a model law on HIV/AIDS Organization of the Fifth meeting of APF HIV/AIDS Coordinators FUTURE PLANS 1) Approval of the 2007-2008 plan of action. 2) Appointment or confirmation of the Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator. 3) An appeal to the government and parliamentary groups to pass the law is envisaged for immediately after this second workshop. This activity will be conducted jointly with the Population and Development Network in collaboration with technical and financial partners. 4) To better explain the law, flyers will be produced and distributed to AIDS control stakeholders. 5) Ratification and application of conventions dealing with HIV/AIDS, from January 2007 to December 2008. 6) Celebration of World AIDS Day 2007-2008.
